It may possibly be permanently, but I can't dogmatically decide that at the moment. As a very difficult school year approaches I won't be able to keep this blog up anyway, and if I did it would be a very poor use of valuable time. There are also reasons of a personal nature that have influenced my decision to end this blog's life, so at the moment I have almost every reason for doing so.

Also, I will be continuing my Pete's Place blog through the school year by posting different school papers and short thoughts on there, but it won't be very often, most likely.

Anyway, it sure was fun while it lasted, and I really enjoyed talking with you all here! But I think it's served its purpose, so let's let it die a happy death, okay? :)

Signing off...
Pete

Well, I tried Erin's Mom's pizza recipe, and I've got to say that it was the best pizza I've ever had. :) It was interesting, though, because after it came out of the oven the crust dough had rizen to almost twice the thickness as when I first put it in. That seems unusual because normally you have to rise the dough before you bake it if you want thick crust. Maybe the 450 degree baking temperature coupled with a whole tbsp of yeast factors out that necessity. :)

For toppings (besides cheese, of course) I fried bacon and chopped it up along with fresh green peppers and onions. Yeah, I know... I stepped way out of character and went a little veggie. :)

At any rate, I didn't do anything dreadfully stupid while I was making it and it tasted awesome! Thanks for the great recipe, Mrs. Koller! :)

Yesterday I drove over to the Hainline's house with dad... It was a two hour drive and a very long story of wrong turns and confusion trying to get there, but we did eventually make it. :) Anyway, dad and Mr. Hainline needed to talk about different things, so I went along and brought 3 of my rifles and a shotgun to plink around with Stephen, Jon, and Ronald on their property. Stephen was gracious enough to spend the better part of an hour helping me re-adjust the Nikon scope on my 7mm... I had dropped it rather heavily on a rock when I was out deer hunting and it threw off the accuracy by 7 inches to the left at 50 yards. BAD. Anyway, thanks again Stephen! :) We got it pretty close, I think. :) (Oh, btw, the 7mm mag has a really heavy kick, so firing it 17 times pretty much ruined my shoulder... lol, it hurts so bad today. :))

Jon, Ronald and I did some plinking with .22s and my pellet gun which Jon *cough* sighted in for me... *cough cough* :) We also, um, tried to shoot some skeet with 12 and 20 gauge shotguns... Ran into some accuracy issues there. Jon and I did, anyway. :) Ronald at least hit 2. To give you an idea of how bad we did, I think we figured out the ratio to 1 hit for every 15 misses. :)

Anyway, it was a lot of fun, and I'd thank them all once again for their wonderful hospitality and also for the excellent meal. :)

Okay, blogger's going all techy on me again and not wanting to let me post any pictures, so you will all just have to be happy with a text post for now. :)

Love ya'll!

I've decided to fill out a tag that I was indirectly commanded to do because there's nothing else to post about right now... :)

1. Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, find line 4 and write what it says.

"...it rejects the basic tenets of a capitalistic society and favors state interventionism..."

2.Stretch your left arm out as far as you can. What can you touch?

Some CDs on the right side of the computer monitor...wait... *looks at hands and tries to remember which one is the left one*

3. What is the last thing you watched on TV?

Well, I never watch TV, so that just might have some influence on an answer to this question...

4. Without looking, guess what time it is.

Um... 3:15?

5. Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?

Oh shoot... missed it by 7. 3:22.

6. With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?

My Dell surround sound playing Josh Groban at very, very high volume. (Booyah to all you Josh Groban fans!)

7. When did you last step outside? What were you doing?

Sometime this morning... I was dumping some trash. :)

8. Before you started this survey, what did you look at?

A Mozilla Firefox page loader waiting for this page to come up.

9. What are you wearing?

NordicTrack running shorts and a spandex t-shirt (yeah, I'm about to go running...).

10. Did you dream last night?

Yeah, I fell of some cliff in the middle of nowhere... It's funny now, but lemme tell you, dreams are freaky when you're having them. lol :)

11. When did you last laugh?

This morning when I was washing the dishes... I remembered a really lame line from "Napoleon Dynamite" and it cracked me up.

12. What is on the walls of the room you are in?

Um, some windows and decorations, a clock and some other super-boring stuff.

13. Seen anything weird lately?

Yeah, I freaked out last time I looked in the mirror... the guy staring back at me was so weird. lol

14. What do you think of this quiz?

Lame, just like all the other quizzes out there.

15. What is the last film you saw?

Um, a not-so-great Jimmy Stewart classic...

16.If you became a multi - millionare overnight, what would you buy?

I tithe it and then invest the rest in a good growth stock mutual fund. :)

17. Tell me something about you that I don't know.

I turned 2 years old while flying over the Pacific ocean. *audience swoons*

18. If you could change one thing about the world, regardless of guilt or politics, what would you do?

Abolish the government-run public school system. Hmm... Either that or colonize Mars. :)

19. Do you like to dance?

Weeelll... I've never really danced formally or had lessons, but I'd actually like to learn... It sounds like it'd be a lot of fun. :)

20. Imagine your first child is a girl, what do you call her?

What do you think I am? A walking dictionary of girls names?

22. Imagine your first child is a boy, what do you call him?

I'm starting to see a pattern here...

23. Would you ever consider living abroad?

I don't know... I'll have to see if that option ever comes up. :)

24. What do you want God to say to you when you reach the pearly gate?

Because of what My Son did on the Cross for you, not because of any actions that you have performed, are you able to enter My Kingdom.

25. 4 people who must also do this quiz on their blog.

Um, here's three people that I don't think will do this:

Josh
Kelci
Zach
Hannah

Signing off...

Okay, really quick here... I've updated my other blog and changed the template/profile, everything. I basically revamped it and am trying to revive it, so go read my latest post and check out the interesting discussion that's just starting to erupt... and... participate! :)

Oh, a word about my new profile pic... I, ah, get very into certain classical "romantic" period guitar pieces, and, um, my sister took that without me even knowing. Anyway, just so you don't think I do really weird poses... lol :) I just thought it looked, um, eccentric enough to warrant its presence in my profile. :)

Okay, here's the text post that goes with the pics of the last post. Blogger was being weird, so I had to do the pics through a different publishing system. Grr.

Anyways, it’s high time I posted something that at least looks like an update externally, so let’s see if I can condense the last 2 months or whatever it’s been. :)

Um, let's see, probably the most interesting thing (to me, anyways) that happened is I got another guitar. This is my third one and it’s a Taylor classical (nylon string) NS34-CE with a cutaway plus Fishman electronics (very handy for amplification) and a pre-installed K&K pick-up. Beautiful wood...
What’s really cool is the deal I got on it. It lists for a little over $2000 were you to buy it at a music or guitar store, and I got it for only $1000 brand new. (And no Lance, I didn’t get it on eBay. Lol) An older friend of ours (a great guitar player) who bought it brand new just 3 months ago (and actually never played it) developed arthritis in the index finger of his left hand (an extremely crucial finger for guitar players) and since he knew I was planning on buying the same guitar in a short while (you guys like all my parenthesis? :), he offered to give me a really good deal on it. Anyway, that’s the story… This guitar plays like a total dream. The action (the distance between the strings and the fretboard) is perfect and so is the tone and everything else! :)

Okay, so that probably bored everyone to death… :)

Oh yeah, I ran my 330th mile for the year on Saturday, so I’m a little behind in my plan to go 700 miles by the end of the year. Hoping to catch up a little more when this weather cools a bit. Not that I mind running in the sunshine by any means, but it’s much more exhausting on the body to go 6-10 miles a day, 3-4 days a week, when it’s 85 degrees and up and with all the work I’ve been doing this summer, I can’t really afford to be any more tired than I can help. :) Plus, the latest thing I’ve been doing has to do more with running a faster mile, as opposed to going farther at a slower pace. It was Colin’s genius that struck upon this plan, so make sure all you runners give him some credit. :) So the workout looks more like this: Plan on running just 3-5 miles in one mile intervals with a quarter cool down and a waterbreak between each mile. Set a goal of say, keeping each mile under 6:30. Then run as many miles as you can while staying under that amount of time. Anyway, it’s a really neat way to train for a faster mile…

Moving on to………. the Fair! Yeah, you know that place where people actually go and pay money (um, like, LOTS of money) to take rides that leave them staggering, giggling uncontrollably, and feeling desperately like puking all of those Dippin’ Dots they forced down earlier? So last Thursday our choir was singing for Motorcross at the Fair at 7:30 pm and Colin, Lance, Kate and I went early to eat, do rides, watch people do stupid things, etc. Colin and I did one ride (and only one) called “The Zipper,” and, well, suffice it to say I doubt either of us have ever screamed and yelled and repented quite as much as we did on that ride. Crazy. It was literally the most freaky experiences of my life, and I've been through some hairy scary and painful ordeals, so that's kind of saying a lot. :) I stumbled off thinking (using what brain cells I still had), “I paid how much for my senses to be destroyed?” Brother… Fun times! :)

Over last weekend we were able to spend time with some Japanese friends of ours that mom and dad brought to Christ about 14 years ago when we were missionaries in Thailand. It’s a family of three people: Sadakazu (the dad), Kaori (the mom), and Ran (their daughter). Anyway, the dad and the daughter are on a vacation here in the US, and so they made plans to fly into Portland and stay for just a day and a half to be with us, see our church, etc. It was really interesting trying to relate to people from a completely different culture than our own and I’ve got to give it to Japanese society that whatever its faults, it produces intelligent, incredibly well-mannered and very hardworking people. Ran (the daughter, in case you forgot :)) and I are almost exactly the same age (um, but I’m the older one, just so you know… :)) so it was neat to talk to a fellow teenager from a completely different country. Anyways, it was great to see them again...

Well, I’m gonna cut this short here… I haven’t covered anywhere near what’s all been happening, but hey, you got the essentials, so just thank me for that and leave me alone for another month, okay?

Love ya’ll! I’ve got the greatest bunch of friends a guy could wish for! :)

Ran and me up on Beacon Rock... I make my appearance in the blogosphere on this hot, beautifully sunny Westcoast day refreshed from a wonderfully restful night and radiating pride and self-esteem to all around me... Why am I radiating pride and self-esteem? Ah well, read on, my friends, read on...

The underlying premise to my pride and self-esteem is this simple fact: I baked this morning! *audience groans emphatically*

Today's menu consisted of my very own birthday cake... Hence I reminded myself that extra caution was needed. I whipped out two mixing bowls and proceeded thusly:

In bowl #1:

1. 2 Cups of flower (either white or whole-wheat... need I say that I used white. :)
2. 1 Teaspoon of cinnamon
3. 1 Teaspoon of powdered cloves
4. 1/2 Teaspoon of allspice
5. 1/2 Teaspoon of salt
6. 1 Teaspoon of baking soda
7. 2 Teaspoons of baking powder (never did really see a difference between baking soda and baking powder, but whatever...)

In bowl #2:

1. 2 Eggs
Beat in gradually:
2. 1 Cup sugar (again, healthy or white sugar are both possible... I naturally used white.)
3. 2 Teaspoons of molasses (whoops! no molasses to be found for the life of me! what to do? too late to turn back, must continue without molasses) :(
4. 1 Cup of sour milk (why sour milk for crying out loud?)

Now, with expert skill, I might add, I gracefully poured one bowl into the other, and mixed them together. This gooey combination was then dumped into the awaiting pan.

It was now, after I was this far into it, that mom walked in and began reading off the ingredients to make sure I had gotten everything. We had almost gotten to the bottom of the list when it was discovered: "Allspice? ...yes... Salt?" Oh no. Suddenly a painful realization was thrust upon me: I had forgotten the salt.

What to do? What to do? "Can't I salt it now, mom?"..."Um, no, hunnybunchkins, if you salt it now, it might end up tasting like a lightly salted cake." Hmph. With weepy eyes, I continued only half-heartedly...

The next step was putting my unsalty mixture into the oven which had been preheated. During this step, I uncovered a very nasty equation: person + cake + 375deg(oven + HOT) = HOT(120deg + person) + cake... This simplifies to something like person(HOT)(119deg) which means, in essence, that I suddenly got hotter by 119 degrees upon opening the oven door.

Well, eventually it did come out and the result wasn't really as bad as I thought...

I still have to make the topping for it... But apparently that has to be done just a little bit before the thing is actually eaten, so I may just make it tomorrow.

Anyway, I had my last week of school this week... Yay! I'll still be doing stuff all summer, but not all of it, so that'll be nice. You all finished with school for the summer too?

Well, I'd better knock off here... Lots to do!

Love ya'll!

My entire collection of rifles... Yes, my concert like three weeks ago went well. Yes, I had a sore throat and a splitting headache when I played. No, I did not screw up too badly. Yes, I had to wear an annoying little rose thingy on my shoulder. Welp, that covers that...

Okay, seriously... Needless to say, I have been rather busy lately *ducks* and probably will continue to be in such a state for the rest of the summer because of the move and all. Thusly, please don't be expecting much out of this blog or my other one for the next little while. Then maybe you'll be pleasantly surprised if I actually post once in while. :)

Um, news... Ha, right... I almost creamed a cop car the other night when we were going to the grocery store (heh, we were actually doing a little last minute shopping for mother's day). Hey! It really wasn't my fault... The guy didn't have his lights, or siren going, and it's pitch black out! So I'm turning right at a stop-light (I even had a green!) and he does a U-turn right in front of me. We seriously almost had a really nasty crash. Phew. Things like that really keep a guy's eyes peeled.

Other than that, nothing interesting is going on besides the essentials of teenage life consisting of school, school, and (you guessed it!) school. I'm picking up running again after being sick for a few weeks... Did the Paddon (a five mile run) with Colin for his B-day yesterday and didn't do so very well. We finished at about 50 minutes (not discounting standing around for stoplights) but I was probably slowing him down a little (sorry man!) :). Of course, it was steaming hot out, and we didn't have any water along, so that just might have had something to do with our 9-minute-mile pace. :) It was still a lot of fun, though. Thanks again, Colin, and we'll get it in 30 next time! :)

Well, I've gotta run, but if I think of anything else later, I'll try to post it... I'm sure there's other things I'm forgeting that ya'll would find of simply amazing interest. :)

Signing off...

Ahh! I feel like a heel... Awfully sorry I missed your B-day yesterday, Jonathan! I was planning on it all week trying to make mental notes about it, and then I was just either gone or working my head off all day. Sorry!

Anyway, hope you had a great and blessed day! Happy 18th! :)

Well, how's ya'll doin'? I've had an extremely packed schedule the last week... I won't go into all the boring details connotated by that statement, but I will mention the highlights in case anyone's half interested. :)

First of all, on Wednesday evening after choir practice, we sang the National Anthem for the Blazer game at the Rose Garden (actually, hannah was sick, so I was the only representative from our house, unfortunately). The whole choir got free tickets for the game afterwards and it was a real blast! Not that I'm a Blazer fan by any means... They're pretty much the lousiest basketball team in existence right now, holding the worst record in the NBA for game losses (they've lost 17 out of their last 19 games). But it was fun to watch them get creamed, anyway. :) So anywho, that was fun... Apart from me having a few embarrassing moments of abstract confusement (is that even a word?) while I was walking around blindly feeling like a lost ant in an airport trying to find my group section with Colin and Mel (no comments guys... I feel stupid enough as it is :)).

ANYWAY.

Okay, then the only other relatively interesting thing this week was going blading for somewhere around 3 hours with Kahleeb and Lukus Capucus (sorry guys... I personally think those are pretty sweet nicknames :)). Luke and I at first almost got killed by some punk in a SHO car who really thought he was hot stuff... After which we picked up Caleb and proceeded to make futile attempts for quite some time to indulge our sweet-teeth upon the local Dairy Queen. (Well hey! We figured that since we were on wheels we might as well try to implement the Drive Thru, but then we discovered that we lacked sufficient weight to set off the scale to activate the thing.) Anyway, we eventually struck upon the brilliant idea of taking off the rollerblades and going into the place in our socks, a technique completely in a class of its own. This was followed by us ordering three medium cones... BIG mistake. Turns out that if you look up "medium" in the greek, it translates to "14 inches". I think we made it through close to 6 inches before we started to feel totally sick. Not to mention going on a sugar high...

On the whole though, it was fun. :)

So that's pretty much it for last week... This week I have a few interesting things going on, the most important of which is me playing solo guitar at a benefit concert on Saturday evening. It's at a performing center in Portland (across the street from the Schnitz for you people who live in the area) that seats over 900 people, so it should be quite an experience. I thankfully only have to play for around ten minutes since there's so many other performers, but it's still going to be a little unsettling, I dare say. :) I'd actually appreciate it if you'd keep me in your prayers this week as I prepare for that...

Also had a lot of fun over at Josh's house today... My fam went over there for dinner and, ah, well, I brought a few guns along too and the rest is history. :) Matthew had his first experience with a high-powered rifle when he shot my 7mm Magnum and, um, he has a little bit of a bruise around his eye from the scope. lol, man, that was completely hilarious. :) Anyway, thanks again for a great day, Josh! (btw, did you get ahold of Mrs. McCormick about transporting firearms in her van?)

Well, that about covers it... It's gettin' a little late here anyhow, so I'll tune out here. :)

Oh yeah, Random Question of the day: Who has shot anything bigger than a .22 round?

Love ya'll!

So why exactly do store owners and enterprises which specialize in entertainment/holiday stuff advertise bunnies and eggs when Easter rolls around? Furry pink rabbits and eggs? Is there something wrong with this picture? Rabbits don't lay eggs! But then, can you visualize walking down Wal*Mart's Kiddy isle and seeing Easter Chickens lined up on the shelf? What'd ya'll do for Easter? Anything particularly interesting?

Well, since getting my permit a week ago, I've put in a decent amount of hours. I drove on the freeway for the first time on Monday when I had to go to Portland for my classical guitar lesson and it went okay I guess. :) Freeway driving isn't as hard as it might seem, apart from having heightened senses and nerves at higher speeds. Just picturing the drastic effects of one mistake at 65 mph with lots of other cars around you is enough to keep a guy pretty darn careful. I'm not really what you'd call a speed demon always trying to go faster... For some unexplicable reason, the posted speed limit seems just fine to me! :) (Sorry, Josh, but I'm not as much of a dare-devil as you are when it comes to cars! :))

Anyway, I drove to church and back today... So I'm actually getting somewhere! :)

Oh yeah, I finally took the plunge and got a very long overdue haircut, too (courtesy of my wonderful mother who was surprisingly only too happy to ablige :))... And since I abhore getting my hair cut, that's big news for me. :) Well hey! It's depressing sitting there and watching all that warm, curly cozy hair just fall, clump after clump onto the cold floor! Don't know about you people, but I'm kinda attached to my hair... :) Anyway...

I'm feeling very, um, fat and sleepy at the moment. lol :) Characteristics which are easily derived from what a very large and tasty meal can bestow. :)

Oh yeah, random question: Who plays Johann Pachelbel's "Canon in D"? On any instrument?

And with that, I believe I'll go get some very much needed shut-eye! :)

Hi all you wonderful peoples! How's life treating you since, um, yesterday? :)

Well, today's "big" news is that I finally took the plunge and went to the DMV (okay, it's really the DOL, but I think DMV sounds cooler...) and got my driving permit. And then I drove home... Thrill city people! *starts looking suave*

...*cowers as crowd starts glaring*...

...Okay, so the truth is that I freaked completely out and went in having only skimmed the study book this morning (hey, I'm not typically a crammer, but it's Spring Break, and the rest is history...) and actually scored 92% on the test. It was essentially just common sense except for, uh, um, the two I missed. :) Well hey! They were like:

"how do you legally change lanes":

a) put on your blinker

b) turn your head

c) change lanes

So I'm sitting there going "uuuhhhh, they like all work". Problem was, there wasn't an "all of the above" option, so what was I supposed to pick? I ended up choosing what seemed to me to be the most logically correct option which was "turn your head", but apparently the computer thought that puting your blinker on was the more legal way to change lanes. Since when did computers care more about legalities as opposed to safety? Eh? So I guess that's all you have to do, folks... Doesn't matter if there's car right next to you, just put your blinker on and go for it! And then when the cop is drumming his fingers just tell him you were "perfectly legal, officer." After all, how are you supposed to know there was a car there if you don't have to turn you head?!! Huh? Huh?

I'm done ranting... I think I'm pretty well justified, right? :)

On another note, as of baking a world class batch of cookies yesterday, I feel compelled to say that I can outcook any girl here... *ducks* (Good thing you are all at least 100 miles away, otherwise I might have to back that up... :))

Random question: Who was the 17th president of the United States? *grins as everyone scrambles for their 5th grade history reader* Wait... *scrambles for my 5th grade history reader...*

Have a great weekend peeps!

Okay, so I'm on Spring Break... Gimme some leeway. :) I'm still very busy, but I thought hey, if I'm going to be on break, I should try something novel, ya know? The result? A batch of, uh, um, beautiful, yes, that's the word I'm looking for, CCCs (aka Chocolate Chip Cookies). And by the way, it's not MY fault that the second half of those cookies are ovals... Mom was like, "Hunny, why don't you try doing *this*?" Yeah, well, it didn't work, as you can see.

Not to mention I broke, as the picture shows, mom's favorite spatula... *slinks off to corner* Well hey! It's not my fault that the thing was used by Alexander the Great's great aunt! It was so brittle that just a leetle bit of pressure was enough to cause what that particular spatula has had coming for centuries.

So on the whole, my cookies don't, well, uh, look as good as say my sister's, but man, they really taste awesome (if I do say so myself)! And we all know that taste is better than looks, right? Oh, and, uh, no-one needs to know that I put in a half a bag of chocolate chips and like 3 cups of sugar, either... riiiiggght? :)

Btw, David, if you read this, I wanted you to know I've been working on POL this week too... Just so you don't think I'm neglecting it when I actually DO have time. :)

Happy 18th Birthday, Chelsea! Here, within the next few days, Zach and I will each undergo an exhaustive trial so as to ascertain which of us has committed voter fraud! *reels back in horror at the very thought* :)

Okay, so I will be my own defense lawyer and also my own prosecuting attorney when Zach is under trial.

Zach, you can have Lindsey as your defense lawyer, and how about if you are the prosectuting attorney when ya'll are trying me?

Okay, so the judge is Abby (as per your request, Abby) and here's the list of the jury members (and remember, ya'll are supposed to be unbiased at first!):

1. Hannah
2. Kelci
3. Josh
4. Aly
5. Aly's friend Liz
6. Hannah (Beth) (there are WAY too many "hannahs" in the blogging world! :))

(This is probably really going to flop, but we might as well try it and see what happens... And don't forget it was ya'll's idea, not mine! :))

So the court is now in session... Will the defendent (Zach first) please step up to the box and answer the questions put to him with the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth so help him God? :)

Voting time peoples! Heheh, I guess it's a blog more in the interests of all you fellow orange freaks. :)

We went to the Schnitz (for you out of state people, the "Schnitz" is a really nice concert hall that seats about 2,800 people) last night until about 10:45 pm watching the MYS group play. Man are they awesome! Have any of you guys seen them perform? If you haven't, you really need to! Colin, if you read this, your Symphonic Band really brought the house down. I loved your director, too! He was hilarious! Marisa, if you read this, your orchestra did a really great job as well! That trombone concerto was really neat with all you guys playing with Kevin Allen... And thanks again for asking us to go with you guys!

Anyway, so that was a blast... Went with a bunch of friends, and saw a bunch more friends while we were there! :)

Okay, random question: Do any of you like cellery?

Whoop, gotta run...
